Marine Corps Detachment at the Quartermaster School

Welcome to Marine Corps Detachment Fort Gregg-Adams, VA

Marine Corps Detachment (MCD) Fort Gregg-Adams, VA was established in 1983. Its mission is to develop, support, manage and provide resident, entry, intermediate and career individual-skill level, standards based training and act as a proponent for assigned specialty communities in order to support the specified Military Occupational Specialty manpower requirements of the operating forces. The Detachment is organized into a headquarters (HQ) and two companies.

Prior to the 2005 Base Realignment and Closure (BRAC) process, the Detachment was comprised of four Military Occupational Specialty producing schools (MOS) which now comprise Company A. These four school houses are responsible for training entry-, career-, and advanced-level Enlisted Marines and Officers as a Personnel Retrieval and Processing (PRP) Specialist (0471), Airborne and Air Delivery Specialist (0451), Bulk Fuel Specialist (1391), Food Service Specialist (3381). Marine Enlisted Aide (3372), Mortuary Affairs Officer (0407), Air Delivery Officer (0405), Bulk Fuel Officer (1390) and Food Service Officer (3302).

Following the 2005 BRAC process, MCD Aberdeen Proving Grounds, Maryland and MCD Redstone Arsenal, Alabama merged with MCD Fort Gregg-Adams from Fiscal Year 2009-2011, comprising what is now Company B. They are responsible for training entry-, career-, and advanced-level Enlisted Marines and Officers as a Small Arms Repairer Technician (2111), Towed Artillery Systems Technician (2131), Light Armored Vehicle Repairer/Technician (2147), Electro-Optical Ordnance Repairer (2171), Ammunition Technician (2311), Metal Worker and Ammunition Technicians (1316), Ordnance Vehicle Maintenance Officer (2110), Weapons Repair Officer (2120), Electro-Optic Instrument Repair Officer (2125) and Ammunition Officer (2340).

During Fiscal Year 2013, a reorganization of Formal Learning Centers (FLC) within Training Command realigned MCD Fort Gregg-Adams under Weapons Training Battalion, Quantico, VA.

Marine Officers attending the Combined Logistics Captains Career Course (CLC3) at the Army Logistics University are trained as well.

MCD Fort Gregg-Adams now maintains a staff of more than 180 Marines and has a yearly throughput of nearly 2,000 students. In addition to training Marines, these schools are responsible for being proponents for their Military Occupational Specialties (MOS). This includes writing/updating Joint, USMC, and multi-service doctrine, providing input to MOS issues, e.g., organizational changes, billet assignments, MOS Roadmaps, and working with Marine Corps Systems Command on new and modified equipment.
