Colonel Thomas J. Rogers is a native of Rome, Ga. He entered active duty as a Second Lieutenant in the Infantry after graduating from Greensboro College, Greensboro, N.C., in 1988 as a Distinguished Military Graduate with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Physical Education. Later, he earned a Master’s degree in Management from the Florida Institute of Technology, Melbourne, Fla.

His military education includes the Infantry Officer Basic Course, Quartermaster Officer Advanced Course, Airborne School, Air Assault School, Ranger School, Jumpmaster School, Rappel Master School, Parachute Rigger Course, French Commando School, Support Operations Course, Combined Arms Services Staff School, Logistics Executive Development Course, Command and General Staff College, Lean Six Sigma Champion Certification from NC State and USASOC and the U.S. Army War College as a National Security Fellow at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.

Duty assignments include the 8th Infantry Division, Baumholder, Germany, where he served in various positions to include Rifle Platoon Leader and Company Executive Officer for 3rd Battalion, 12th Infantry Regiment; Allied Mobile Forces Land, Mannheim, Germany as an Infantry Support Platoon Leader; 21st Theater Army Area Command, Kaiserslautern, Germany as Aide-de-Camp to the Deputy Commanding General and Logistics Plans Officer; 46th Corps Support Group (Airborne), Fort Bragg, N.C. as S3/Operations Officer; 189th Corps Support Battalion (ABN) as Battalion S3; 364th Direct Support Supply Company (ABN) as Company Commander; HQ 46th Corps Support Group (Airborne) as Supply and Services Officer; 82nd Airborne Division, Fort Bragg as G4 Plans and Operations Chief; Executive Officer, 782nd Main Support Battalion; S3, 82nd Division Support Command; Headquarters, Joint Logistics Command in Melbourne, Australia as the Joint Logistics Plans Officer for the Australian Defence Force; a return to the 82nd Airborne Division, Fort Bragg, NC as Deputy Commander, 82nd Sustainment Brigade; commander 407th Brigade Support Battalion; United States Army Special Forces Command (ABN), Fort Bragg as the Assistant Chief of Staff, G4; United States Army Special Operations Component Command as Commander 528th Sustainment Brigade (Special Operations) (Airborne); NATO Special Operations Component Command/Special Operations Joint Task Force-Afghanistan as J4/Logistics Director. As the 407th BSB Battalion Commander, his unit was the lead element for the 2007 Troop Surge in Iraq. He has deployed in support of operations in Haiti, participated in humanitarian aid efforts for Hurricanes Fran and Katrina as well as tsunami relief for Indonesia. He has served multiple tours in Iraq and Afghanistan.

Individual awards and decorations include the Legion of Merit, Bronze Star Medal with Oak Leaf Cluster, Defense Meritorious Medal, Meritorious Service Medal with five Oak Leaf Clusters, Army Commendation Medal with four Oak Leaf Clusters, Army Achievement Medal with two Oak Leaf Clusters, Armed Forces Service Medal, Humanitarian Service Medal with Service Star, National Defense Service Medal with Bronze Star, Afghanistan Campaign Medal with two campaign stars, Iraq Campaign Medal with two Campaign Stars, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Military Outstanding Volunteer Service Medal, Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon, with Numeral three Device, Master Parachutist Badge, Combat Action Badge, Expert Infantryman Badge, Air Assault Badge, Parachute Rigger Badge, French Commando Badge, German Silver, Thai and Australian Parachutist Wings and the Ranger Tab. Unit awards include the Meritorious Unit Commendation.
